Any individual who would like to further their education can choose to study in Canada. Based on the age and level of education, the individual can determine which course they would like to complete in Canada.

The candidate needs to meet the eligibility criteria outlined by the college/university for the desired course. If the duration of the desired course is less than six months, candidate will only need a visitor visa to come to Canada and complete the course. If the duration of the desired course is more than six months, candidate will need to apply and obtain a study permit. In order to apply for a study permit, candidate needs;

- to meet the age criteria

- to meet the education criteria

- a valid travel document/passport

- financial evidence to prove that candidate have enough money to funds for tuition fee, living expenses, and relevant travel expenses.

- an acceptance letter from a college/university

- have a clear criminal history - no criminal records

- to pass a medical examination

- to attend an interview with an immigration visa officer, if required. Candidate needs to have evidence and convince the officer that candidate will leave Canada upon completion of studies

holding study permit are allowed to work in Canada on a part-time basis for the duration of their study permit. If the student is accompanied by their spouse, the spouse can apply for a full-time open work permit in Canada. The spouse will then be allowed to work in Canada on a full-time basis. Upon completion of the course, students can enter into the PR pathway if they wish to.
